Data Centers & PUE
Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) is a key performance metric used to measure and track the energy efficiency of a data center's electrical and mechanical infrastructure. The lower the PUE value, the more efficiently the facility operates. One of the most effective ways to improve PUE is by reducing fan energy consumption within the cooling system.
Fan efficiency and energy performance are not constant across operating conditions and can vary significantly as system loads change. Because air filtration systems create resistance to airflow, filter pressure drop is a primary driver of fan energy consumption. As pressure drop increases, fans must work harder to maintain the required airflow, resulting in higher energy use. Therefore, selecting high-efficiency, low-pressure-drop filtration solutions can significantly reduce fan energy demand, improve cooling system performance, and contribute to a lower overall PUE.
